The task of translating «The History of al-Ṭabarī» into Chinese is a main project of the Hsubooks publisher. It will be comprised of 26 volumes of translation text. The first part of 5 volumes (concerning the period of pre-Islam) was published in April 2017, with a volume of introduction to the Chinese translation (entitled: 《Tārīkkh al-Ṭabarī (The History of al-Ṭabarī): Introduction to the Chinese Translation》).

In February 2018, an abridged translation of the first part was published under the title of 《Tārīkkh al-Ṭabarī (The History of al-Ṭabarī) [Abridged Translation in Chinese ①], The Pre-Islamic Period》, together with an appendix volume (entitled: 《Tārīkkh al-Ṭabarī (The History of al-Ṭabarī) [Abridged Translation in Chinese ①]: Appendix Volume (Manusacript Illustrations).
